Is FOOD Making You SICK?

June 2nd, 2009 by Jean Duane

It may seem obvious to you, but it wasn’t to me! I thought it was normal to feel icky after eating. I thought that feeling of being bloated and too-full even though I didn’t over eat was normal. Newsflash: Food shouldn’t make you sick! And you also shouldn’t have to take medicine regularly to digest the foods you eat. Having to take digestive aids, antacids, etc. is a good indication that you are not eating foods compatible with your body. Eat the right foods, and you’ll have a happy, thriving body (like her). girl
Considering that gluten intolerance can manifest in the body in over 100 different ways, and dairy intolerance can result in a host of seemingly unrelated symptoms, here’s a little quiz to help you decide if maybe food is the culprit causing chronic health problems.
Food Intolerance Quiz
Are you feeling bloated, gassy and sometimes nauseated ? especially toward the end of your workday?
Is eating for you like playing a game of Russian Roulette ? afterwards, you may feel well, you may feel sick, you may have a reaction?
Do you take a lot of digestion aids, laxatives and prescriptions just to get through your day or week?
Is your body achy, and full of mysterious maladies and pains?
Do you experience nausea, diarrhea, chronic constipation or excessive flatulence?
Do you have less energy than you think you should?
Do you feel like your mind isn?t as clear as it could be?
Do you have problems digesting foods, and eliminating them from your body?
Have you experienced an outbreak of a pervasive, extremely itchy rash?
Have your hands, joints or face swollen?
Do you feel like you are larger or smaller than you should be based on your frame size?
Do you get sick frequently with colds or ear infections? Do you have respiratory problems, asthma or rhinitis?
If you answered YES to most of these questions, YOUR DIET MAY BE AFFECTING YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. A GFCF diet may eliminate these symptoms.

Gluten and dairy products are likely causing your feeling of malaise. For most people it takes three months after eliminating all dairy and gluten from your body to feel better. Gluten and Dairy products cause some people to produce antibodies. This means your body considers these foods a poison it needs to fight against. For others, the small intestine is compromised. Still others are asymptomatic. Your doctor can run some tests (discussed under the category Doctor’s Tests) to ascertain whether or not these foods are causing major problems. Even people who pass all of the doctor?s tests report that they feel significantly better and loose weight on a gluten-free and/or dairy-free diet.
